Hosting woes
I’m having some trouble with my hosting setup. I just did a complete rebuild on stuff, and still it’s slow as can be. Apparently a 256 MB slice at Slicehost just isn’t good enough to run a single WordPress install (that seems weird to me). Apache 2 looks to be the culprit, for some reason it’s eating up gobs of memory.
I’ve put in a temporary fix, removed mySQL from the slice, but I’m not confident that that will completely fix the problem (seems to be okay for now though).

Okay, looks like it’s at least stable now. Wouldn’t trust it to handle a good Digging, but hopefully it’s solid enough to run my blog for a while.
If all goes well, I’m going to try rolling a couple of other WordPress sites. Hopefully that won’t cause the bloated pig that is Apache to run too far out of control.

Tweaked it a little more still, and things seem to be moving even better. Two WP blogs running on this slice now, and it doesn’t look like it’s dragged things down further.

Upgraded the RAM on the Slice. No worries, and I might even be able to coax BuddyPress into running on this Slice…
