This was the lead graphic on the Globe and Mail front page this morning.
Did somebody forget to tell them that it’s just a phone? Yeah, the iPhone is a great piece of technology, but “a miracle”? It’s kind of funny how the lead graphic is about a pretty expensive phone, and the front pages of about half a dozen papers that I look at have stories about increasing cost of living, how people are having trouble making ends meet, and about the overall decline in consumer confidence (LA Times here:)

I had the feeling for quite a while when I had a fixed salary with union-mandated raises that I just wasn’t keeping up with rising costs. What’s the general consensus out there? Do you feel like you’re holding steady, getting ahead, or falling behind?

I feel about as well off as I did a year ago.
I feel better off than I did a year ago because I don’t have all of my time being eaten up at a full time job that isn’t getting me much further ahead (not a dig there, just reality — working for myself, I’ve got the ability to work longer hours for more pay, or not).
I do feel nervous about rising costs. Food seems to be getting more and more expensive, gas prices have gone up and of course, the ferries….
