We were a little careless about taking the compost out (we left it sitting on the front step), and ended up with a family of visitors.

Mom decided to try to intimidate me by standing on her back legs, spreading her arms and growling loudly. Needless to say, I won the intimidation game. It was pretty cool though, I’ve never seen raccoons in the wild before. I snapped this picture as they were taking off (sorry about the graininess — we don’t have street lights on Mayne Island, so nights are VERY dark, and the poor flash on my camera did the best it could).
